Hello, Pearl Team,
Welcome to February! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to the new year and are looking forward to a great month ahead. For most of us, when we think of February we think of Valentine’s Day, and while this is a popular holiday (and I’d never say no to chocolate) – there are actually a few more very significant holidays for us to recognize.
This month, we will be recognizing Black History Month, Heart Health Awareness Month, Random Acts of Kindness Day, and Valentine’s Day. To me, all these holidays have an underlying theme of appreciation.
Being appreciative is an important aspect of a happy and healthy life. Finding appreciation for those around you and those you’ve never met but have made an impact on you helps you in so many ways. For instance, has anyone in your life ever done something for you that truly made you smile? It made you feel better, right? In turn, have you ever done something for someone and made them smile? It feels good. Our relationships and the desire to do well by others, whether it be with friends or family, brings something to your life that cannot be replaced.
For the month of February, I’d love for you to focus on how you can make others smile. Even the smallest gesture, like a smile to someone in the grocery store, can lighten someone’s day. I firmly believe that what you put out, you get back – so go smile! It may make you smile too.
Warmest Regards,
Merry Korn, MSW
