Career Path:
I started as an Administrative Assistant for the CCO contract in Winchester, KY. Through my 6 years in the building, I accumulated knowledge in all areas of a call center. As an Administrative Assistant, my tasks were small and tedious, but I was able to always offer help in other areas. Eventually I learned about the financial aspect of a call center, all areas of reporting, and working directly with the client during audits. It was imperative in all of these areas to be absolutely precise and accurate. These skills helped me prove to management that I was the perfect candidate for the Executive Assistant for the Vice President of Operations and was moved into this position in January of 2020.
Career Goals:
I am at the pinnacle of my career at this point and my only aspirations are to continue to make my management team proud and try to convey the Pearl culture to all new hires that I will be working with.
Biggest Lesson/Obstacle:
These two go hand in hand for me. The biggest obstacle was working with management that did not respect me or the work I was performing. The lesson I learned was that professionalism, even if personalities clash in the workplace, should never be sacrificed.
Advice:
There are 2 things that I would tell people:
- Never just \’do\’ your job. Always ask more questions, ask for more tasks, volunteer to learn, and get involved in areas that you have never worked in before to gain as much knowledge as possible.
- Always dress for the job you want to get, not the job you have.
Fun Fact:
My husband of 25 years is a U.S. Army Veteran. During his military career, we lived in Germany, Illinois, California, Okinawa/Japan, and New York. I also have a daughter who proudly served for six years in the U.S. Air Force and is now a Registered Dietician in Lexington, KY.
Hobbies?
My husband and I live \’off-grid\’ on 154 acres in the Daniel Boone National Park in Kentucky and we both love to spend our time outdoors. When we have to be indoors, we enjoy reading and playing board games. We do not have a TV in our home.
