Pride Month
Pride Month is an annual celebration of the many contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community to history, society, and cultures worldwide. In most places, Pride is celebrated throughout the month of June each year in commemoration of its roots in the Stonewall Riots of June 1969. However, in some areas—especially in the Southern Hemisphere—pride events occur at other times of the year. By remembering this history, we acknowledge the progress made and address the work that still needs to be done. Embracing Pride Month within our company helps create a culture of acceptance and inclusivity, where every team member, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, feels valued and respected. When we celebrate Pride Month at Pearl, it strengthens our commitment to diversity and inclusion, which benefits everyone.
Today, Pride Month is celebrated through a variety of different events spanning from parades and concerts to workshops and learning opportunities!
Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month: Join Us in Promoting Brain Health
June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness and sharing crucial information about Alzheimer’s disease, which affects memory, thinking, and behavior. As part of our commitment to employee well-being, we want to educate our team about the importance of brain health. By understanding more about this disease and the steps we can take to protect our brains, we can help support those affected and improve our own mental well-being.
We encourage everyone to adopt brain-healthy habits such as regular physical exercise, a balanced diet, social engagement, and challenging mental activities. We also invite you to support and volunteer for organizations dedicated to Alzheimer’s research and share your personal stories or experiences related to the disease. By participating in these activities and initiatives, we can collectively make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and contribute to a healthier, more informed community. Your enthusiasm and involvement are crucial in making this initiative a success. Please reach out to the Employee Engagement Department if you would like to share any personal stories or experiences at EmployeeEngagement@Pinsourcing.com
Juneteenth
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. The holiday marks June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of the Civil War and proclaim the freedom of all enslaved people. This historic moment came two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, highlighting the delayed enforcement of the executive order in some parts of the country. Juneteenth stands as a powerful reminder of the enduring fight for equality and justice in America.
Celebrations of Juneteenth have grown significantly over the years, evolving from local gatherings to nationwide observances. Traditional festivities often include parades, music, cultural performances, and educational events that honor African American history and culture. As a company committed to diversity and inclusion, we recognize the importance of Juneteenth in fostering a more equitable and inclusive society.
