Tell us what brought you to Pearl and what skills you acquired in each of your previous roles that helped get you to your current role?
Pearl’s woman owned background grabbed my attention. As I researched further and uncovered Pearl’s mission with helping others, I was inspired to be part of the mission. I continue to feel inspired and motivated to help others, as they journey through Pearl’s wonderful opportunities.
Before I joined Pearl, I worked in the financial industry for ten years. I started as a Bank Teller and quickly earned my way to Bank Manager. I gained skills within operations, sales, auditing, HR, client interaction and employee engagement. Working in the financial industry helped me recognize and appreciate the importance of structure, policy/procedure, consistency, focus, teamwork, and determination.
My skills are continuously growing and evolving with the continued exposure I am gaining from working with Pearl. My leadership helps support my motivation to learn and grow, without them, I would not be where I am today.
What are your career goals?
I have long-term aspirations with my career in HR. However, my short-term will be to become HR Manager. With my continued hard work, dedication, and consistency, I know one day I will accomplish it.
What has been the biggest lesson you have learned in your job?
I have learned many lessons throughout my roles in HR and corporate interactions. With that, I know I will continue to learn lessons; this is what will make me better. If I must pick one lesson, it would be to take my time with responding.
Not everything requires an immediate answer. It’s best to first strategize, look at the big picture and then respond. This lesson has not only helped me within my career, but on a personal level as well. It’s amazing when all the pieces fall into place.
What is your advice for someone who may be interested in pursuing a role in your current field?
I highly recommend it! If you genuinely have a passion for helping others, HR is the career for you. If you can apply for working in HR with Pearl, even better! HR holds many branches, the root of HR, however, is helping people thrive.
