Current job title: Workforce Development Referrals Manager
Career path: I joined Pearl in March 2019. I was looking for a career path that was more challenging and have now been with the company for 3 years. I was hired as a Contract Recruiter, assigned to support the CQA program onsite, in Tempe, AZ.
In October of 2020, I became a permanent virtual recruiter. Providing support, sourcing, recruitment, and establishing new partnerships within HubZone communities for Workforce Development. In September of 2021, I became the Workforce Development Referrals Manager.
I have more than 18 years of education and experience combined in the fields of Customer Service, Accounting, Executive Management, Talent Acquisition, and Recruiting which has allowed me to contribute to my current role as well as previous roles. Being a part of diverse communities and teams has allowed me to understand what it takes to support such industries, clients, and customers.
Career goals: My future career aspirations are to exceed in every professional goal set for the Talent Acquisition Workforce Development Team, as well as the organization. I aspire to grow with Pearl perhaps into a role that leads a team, or advancement to Sr. Leadership.
Biggest lesson/obstacle: The biggest lesson I learned is that the market is forever changing and evolving within this industry. As a Recruiter and Workforce Development Manager, the biggest obstacle that we have is how to sell our company to candidates in a competitive market and saturated candidacy pool. I\’ve overcome this challenge by providing candidates with a unique engagement experience that is transparent and supports Pearl’s “Culture of Caring” during their application and hiring process.
Advice: My advice to someone who desires to start or grow within this industry is to not be afraid of learning and development. Educate yourself on the current systems and how they support the overall objectives of your daily tasks, as well as the achievement of your team and the company. Seek development opportunities to grow and learn new things about your career path. Such as free trainings on Linkedin. Ask your supervisor if there are new tasks you can learn or be a part of.
Fun fact: I did a photo shoot outside of the tallest statue in Africa.
Hobbies: I enjoy crafts, making unique home decor items, baby showers, weddings, party centerpieces, and gifts.
