Pearl began its partnership with Military OneSource in July of 2021. Over the last 2 years, the Pearl staff supporting Military OneSource has grown to include staff working in hybrid positions. Pearl staff continue to exceed the expectations of Military OneSource and have been asked to increase the team from the original 15 triage consultants to a total team of 30! Our staff is committed to meeting the needs of service members and their families and our hope is to continue branching out to help in other capacities for MOS.
Pearl Interactive provides Master’s level clinicians to serve as triage consultants for the Military OneSource Program. The team consists of 18 clinicians, some of whom are licensed Professional Counselors and licensed Social Workers. When a family member or service member reaches out to Military OneSource, these triage consultants assess the participant’s needs and are able to assess situations by knowing the correct clinical questions to ask. They are able to determine when emergent care is warranted, utilize effective safety planning, and know requirements for mandated reporting, including military reporting requirements. The team is also able to assist in connecting an individual with resources and/or services and provide crisis intervention when needed.
Typically, these triage consultants take approximately 500 calls each per month and what makes these calls different from most call centers is that a significant number of calls deal with domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, and illegal activities. These calls, at times, can weigh on the triage consultants, however, they continue to exceed all expectations when assessing safety and putting resources in place to protect those that serve our country on a daily basis.
The success and continuation of this project could not have happened without the staff and personnel that support it on a daily basis. Their continued commitment and dedication to not only meeting the expectations of Military OneSource but most importantly giving back to our service and family members should be recognized.
