We are very sorry to share the news that Carletta Smith, a valued and cherished member of our Pearl family, passed away June 19, 2023.
She started her career with Pearl in April of 2021 as an original member of the Provider Support Service Center, Pearl’s first prime contract where she acted as an advocate giving support to providers and contributing greatly to the program’s success. She not only was an advocate while on the clock, but in her hours and time away from Pearl she also advocated for Black Lives Matter and Domestic Violence Survivors. She was the owner and founder of Protect Black Women and Girls US and held a journalist position on a podcast where they would feature and showcase black history.
Carletta loved the Golden Girls television show and even went to the first Golden Girls Convention in Chicago. She loved celebrating her birthday and made sure she went all out every year!
Carletta always said that her favorite name was Mom. She has 3 sons; Kevin, Kelvin, and Kelin. Her involvement in her activists’ groups held a special place in her heart to ensure that her three boys were not contributing to the problem that plagued their community.
Carletta will be remembered as a faithful member of our Pearl family and a strong and loving support for her teammates.
A link to her obituary is here – please feel free to leave a note letting the family know what an impact Carletta has left on you.
